Land Rover Discovery 1 Mpi
Land Rover Discovery 1 named “Ozzy”.
Ozzy was the first car we used for camping/overlanding. Bought in 2015 and used for our first trip back in 2019. After falling in love with camping trips, Ozzy begun receiving small but continuous upgrades leading to its “final” form in 2021.
Ozzy was a Land Rover Discovery 1 with the 2.0 Mpi engine which was seriously underpowered but did the job.
One of our first addition was the custom drawer system we made ourselves, which in fact was an absolute disaster at first but after years and contentless trips we managed to get it right. Its final form included two drawers one on top of each other and the fridge on the right side.
The Roof Top Tent we used on Ozzy was the ARB Simspon III. It was a top quality soft-shell roof top tent and quite “roomy” at the same time but it required several minutes to set up and fold back down (like every other soft shell tent), which was its major disadvantage.
When we started thinking of replacing Ozzy we set the following priorities for our next build:
-It had to be Diesel
-Should be a bit bigger to gain some extra space
-It should be a comfortable ride
-must have 700kg or more payload
All these factors lead to our decision in purchasing our next vehicle, our 2003 Td5 Discovery 2
